Nervous your kids won’t cooperate for photos?
GOOD! I bet you weren’t expecting that answer, were you? Let me explain.
Your family has a dynamic that is unique, unlike anyone else’s. So why would you want your photos to look just like everyone else’s? While it is important to get a few good photos of everyone smiling and looking at the camera, I personally enjoy capturing moments that really show off and highlight the personality of your family.
So the dog won’t sit still and keeps licking your youngest child? GREAT! There will be some guaranteed genuine giggles from your youngster that will get the whole family smiling and relaxed.
Or your child is screaming and throwing a tantrum? NO PROBLEM! We can play a fun game to get him/her distracted to make them forget they are even having their pictures taken.
No one has the perfect life or the perfect family. And that’s great! This is what allows your photos to be uniquely YOU. Embrace the madness/quirks/chaos/beauty. In my opinion, the best photos come when your family is just interacting and being themselves. I want you to look at your final photos and be able to relive the emotions you had in that moment. I want the photos to make you feel something. Not just say “oh, that’s a nice looking photo."
I will certainly give you and your family guidance on posing and interacting so you won’t feel awkward or rigid. Being relaxed and having fun transfers into some wonderful images that really capture the story of your family. I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve to help make sure things go smoothly.
Remember, staged and posed photos are great for some people/events. They definitely have their time and place. If that’s the style you are looking for, I’ll be honest, I might not be the photographer for you.
